With a tempo ramp — start slow, set where you want to end up, and it speeds up on its own while you play. That is how a fast passage actually gets learned, and it is the bit most free metronomes leave out.

Set a slow start and a fast finish, and it climbs on its own. Setting "to" lower than "from" ramps downward, which is a real practice technique — it exposes the notes you were getting away with.
